NATIVE NATIONS INSTITUTE TO HOST
YOUTH LEADERSHIP CAMPS
The Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy (NNI) will be hosting its annual youth
leadership camps this summer in Tucson. Both camps are designed for Native American high school juniors,
seniors, and 2009 high school graduates.
The Native American Youth Governance Camp (June 23–25) is designed to help build the
knowledge and skills of future leaders of Native nations through a comprehensive curriculum, similar to
NNI's executive education workshops, that explores the keys to effective Indigenous self-governance. Students
engage critical thinking, decision-making, and team-building exercises to learn how to address the most
pressing challenges for Native nations.
The aim of the award-winning Native American Youth Entrepreneur Camp (July 19-24) is to
encourage private sector development in Indian Country by teaching students the fundamentals of personal and
professional development, including how to start a business, how to write a simple business plan, and how to
apply the plan to a part-time business they could start when they return home.
