Benjamin U. Jakubowski
Oberlin College

Ben is a junior chemistry and environmental studies major and mathematics minor who plans to pursue a career in environmental epidemiology. He is interested in using epidemiology to inform interventions that simultaneously promote health and protect the environment, particularly in rural communities. At Oberlin College, Ben serves on the board of the College’s efficiency loans and sustainability grants fund and works as treasurer for the Oberlin Young Friends (the Quaker student association) and the Folk Music Club. He has also organized and led a student research group that studied groundwater contamination in Central Appalachian coalfield communities. He enjoys cooking, running, folk and old-time music, and goes backpacking whenever he can.
