Sita M. Syal

Sita is a chemical engineering major and international studies minor at the University of Michigan. She is passionate about increasing the installation of renewable energy in developing countries. She is the co-founder of Woven Wind, a design team that is developing low-cost wind turbines in Guatemalan villages. She is also the incoming president of Better Living Using Engineering Laboratory, a student group that works to develop sustainable technologies for the developing world. During the 2012 spring semester, she spent four months in India learning Hindi and researching solar energy in rural and urban settings. Sita loves sports, playing violin and spending time with her family.
