Lena R. Connor

Lena is passionate about the relationship between religion and environmentalism and is planning to pursue a career in Christian ecotheology. She is currently in her third year at Pomona College in California, studying environmental analysis, politics, and religious studies. Last summer, she spent two months in the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil, researching how a group of Franciscan priests are mobilizing the local farming community against corporate bauxite mining in the region. She then traveled to Oxford, where she studied environmental theology in a specialized tutorial. This summer, she plans to work for the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program in Washington, DC.
