Esther H. Buckwalter
University at Buffalo

Esther will graduate from the University at Buffalo Honors College with a BS in environmental engineering and a minor in Spanish. Esther’s interests are water pollution remediation and global access to safe drinking water. She did a semester of cultural and environmental study in Monterrey, Mexico, and last summer in Jogjakarta, Indonesia, worked with a local non-profit to develop a laboratory to test ceramic water filters for survivors of natural disaster. At home in Buffalo, Esther is an officer and project leader in Engineers for a Sustainable World. In her free time, Esther enjoys dancing, camping, and photography.

How can you describe a weekend of student leaders from across the U.S. with an intense passion to change the world? The Orientation was a phenomenal experience to meet and build connections that I'm sure will last a lifetime.
