Tal Y. Shutkin

Tal Shutkin is a rising junior at the Ohio State University, studying environmental policy and decision making. He is using his education as the foundation for work that improves the outcomes of conservation policy. Specifically, he is concerned with the impact of conservation initiatives on indigenous communities and strives to emphasize social justice alongside ecological integrity in the design and implementation of such initiatives. He is beginning his honors thesis on a related case study in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest. Tal is president of his university’s Sierra Club chapter and a founding member of OSU’s fossil fuels divestment organization.
