Anne Thomas grew up in the Central Valley of California, where her early experiences with nature gave her a keen sense of wonder and love for the natural world. As a result, she chose to study conservation biology and bioinformatics at Brigham Young University, where she has been active in mentored plant ecology research and in environmental outreach as vice president of BYU Earth Stewardship Club. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in computational plant ecology in order to address the complex effects of climate change on plant communities. Her other passions include playing cello, writing poetry, and reading.
