Mackenzie L. Jahnke
Kapi'olani Community College
Mackenzie currently attends Kapi'olani Community College in Hawai’i. She is passionate about wildlife preservation and is pursuing a degree in conservation biology. For the past five years, Mackenzie has worked with the non-profit Malama Maunalua aiding with their goal of restoring the health of Maunalua Bay. As part of this effort, Mackenzie completed research on invasive algae destroying the bay’s ecosystem and was honored to be invited to present her research at the Council of Undergraduate Research, Posters on the Hill event in Washington, D.C. This summer Mackenzie is excited to intern with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration assisting them in their effort to make climate science data in Hawai’i more accessible to the public.
