Tribal Public Policy
Joe Boland, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation (Absentee Shawnee), is a sophomore at Yale University. Majoring in history, he is the vice-president of the Sophomore Class Council and is one of two senators from Ezra Stiles College. This past summer, Joe interned at the Department of Justice Office of Tribal Justice, as well as at the Aspen Institute Center for Native American Youth. While at each, he produced reports concerning efficient hazardous waste management in Native Alaskan communities, analyzed legislation relating to Indian Country, and sought to better understand key cases within Federal Indian Law. He enjoys playing basketball and, more than anything else, spending time with family.
