Posted: 9/3/2013

The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation (Udall Foundation), headquartered in Tucson Arizona, announced the appointment of Phil Lemanski as its new Executive Director.

Phil has served as Executive Director in an Acting capacity since May 2012. Prior to being appointed by the Board of Trustees as the acting Executive Director, Phil had served in a variety of positions within the Foundation since 1999. He started out as the Chief Financial Officer, a position which later added the duties of Director of Education programs. Most recently, Phil served three and a half years as the Deputy Executive Director for Finance and Education.

Before joining the Udall Foundation, Phil served four years as the Vice President for Business Affairs and Enrollment Management at the Biosphere 2 operated by Columbia University.

Eric Eberhard, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Udall Foundation said: "We are really excited to have Phil take over permanent leadership of the Foundation. He has done a remarkable job leading the Foundation through some significant changes over the past 15 months. It's great to have him in place permanently."

The Udall Foundation was established by Congress in 1992. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting the benefit and enjoyment of natural resources and fostering a greater public understanding of the role of natural resources and the environment. It does so through scholarship, fellowship, internship and conflict resolution programs related to Native American and environmental issues.

Anne Udall, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees said: "Phil's background and skills are just what we need to carry on the important work of the Foundation related to environmental conflict resolution and environmental and natural resources education of our youth."

"I'm really excited to work with our dedicated staff as we continue to improve our programs and carry on the legacy of Morris and Stewart Udall," Lemanski said. He will take over leadership of the Foundation permanently on August 28.
