TUCSON REI AND THE UDALL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE UPCOMING PHOTO EXHIBIT AND OPEN HOUSE

Tucson REI and the Morris K. and Stewart L. Udall Foundation are pleased to announce a photo exhibit and open house featuring images taken by middle-school youth from Boys & Girls Clubs during trips to national parks and surrounding areas as part of the Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus program. Tucson youth who participated in the program will be featured.

The event is Saturday, October 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Tucson REI located at 160 W. Wetmore Road. A brief presentation of the program will begin at 11:15 a.m. followed by time to speak with program representatives and youth participants. The photos will remain on display in the store's community room (on the 2nd floor) through the month of October. The event fee is FREE and open to the public.

The mission of the Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus Program is to connect under resourced youth to nature through photography, yet during action-packed excursions to public lands, the program is able to do so much more. Parks in Focus combines tried-and-true photography and environmental education lessons with active, hands-on outdoor adventures guided by passionate and knowledgeable leaders who push personal boundaries and create community. The Udall Foundation is currently seeking both in-kind and monetary donations for the program. One hundred and twenty middle-school Club members are expected to participate in the program this year. REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), a retail co-op providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, recently opened a new store in Tucson, Arizona. REI partners with local organizations that help people experience and conserve the outdoors through education, volunteerism and its grants program. REI – Tucson has partnered with the Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus program this year. REI – Tucson is located at 160 W. Wetmore Road and the phone number is 520.887.1938. Store hours are M-F 10 am - 9 pm, Saturday 10 am - 8 pm, and Sunday 11 am - 6 pm.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson is to provide building-centered programs, professional staff and a safe environment to assist youth in developing self-esteem, values and skills. The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation is an independent federal agency located in Tucson, Arizona.
