Tyra M. West, Navajo Nation
Ohio Valley University

Tyra is a member of the Navajo Nation and is from Gallup, New Mexico. Tyra is in her final year at Ohio Valley University (OVU) in Vienna, West Virginia, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a double minor in psychology and alternative dispute resolution. At OVU, Tyra is a member of the women’s soccer and softball teams and serves as the treasurer for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She also serves as the vice president of the Criminal Justice Club and works as an intern at the local Youth Reporting Center and Faithlink Caregiving Service. After graduation, Tyra plans to pursue a career in law to preserve public safety and uphold justice on Native reservations as well as advocate for Tribal affairs at the Federal level.
