Colbert E. Washburn, Chickasaw Nation
University of Chicago

Colbert "Cole" is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. He is named after the Colbert family; several of whom served as Tribal leaders who helped shape the general course of Chickasaw history. He is currently pursuing an English degree at the University of Chicago and plans to attend law school. Washburn has worked at the Grand Canyon National Park and in the communications department for the Chicago Mayor’s Office. He plans to continue working in government after finishing his law degree, specializing in Native American law, and serving Native American communities at a national level.
