James E. Miller
Gustavus Adolphus College
James is a biology and geography major who is passionate about sustainable agriculture and its potential to mitigate excess atmospheric carbon dioxide. His involvement with agriculture stems from his extended family who operate a fourth generation farm. He has gained experience with local food production as manager of Gustavus’ on-campus farm and founded a student organization focused on agriculture and food justice. This year, he co-organized a climate justice conference which drew hundreds of attendees. James aspires to work for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, serving as a liaison between rural farmers and agricultural policymakers to advocate for environmentally and socially responsible land management.
