Alexia is a Stamps Scholar, a natural resource ecology and management major, and oceanography minor at Louisiana State University (LSU). She envisions becoming an environmental lawyer specializing in climate law to fight for governmental aid and accountability in creating programs designed to help coastal communities being displaced due to climate change and sea level rise. As state president of Collegiate 4-H, Alexia has designed service-learning projects to mitigate land subsidence along Louisiana’s coast. She works in LSU’s Freshwater Ecology lab and is conducting her own project researching how stream channel stability affects community trophic webs. Alexia’s interest in environmental justice was sparked by her favorite animal, the West Indian manatee.
