Carson S. Colenbaugh
Carson is a horticulture major interested in implementing prescribed fire strategies in the Southern Appalachians. He works on several fire ecology research projects at Clemson University, focusing on ecological departure, fire history, and the effects of wildfires on mature forests. His undergraduate honors thesis explores the history of fire in the Southern Appalachians through the lens of cultural oppression. Carson serves in leadership positions in many environmentally and agriculturally focused student organizations, including the Clemson Food Collective and the Student Association for Fire Ecology. He is a certified wildland firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service and is a National Scholar. Carson enjoys writing and speaking in local literary festivals.
