Mariah S. Choiniere

Mariah is a forestry student at the University of Vermont with a minor in economics. She served over 1,600 hours with AmeriCorps, working throughout the country to restore ecosystems and expand recreation opportunities. She has completed both the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails, which helped to strengthen her passion for public land conservation. Mariah is currently interning with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, offering technical and financial assistance to private landowners. Previously, she worked with the U.S. Forest Service as a wildland firefighter. She was recently named Vermont’s 2022 Truman Scholar for her commitment to public service and interest in temperate agroforestry.
