Ranen majors in political science, sociology, and women, gender, sexuality studies at Washington University. Ranen served two terms as student body president, where he spearheaded the expansion of biodegradable menstrual products across the residential halls and main campus, presented about fossil fuel divestment to the Board of Trustees, and incorporated sustainability into the university-wide dining services contract. He has also interned at the Environmental Working Group and Congressman Jamaal Bowman's office, where he authored memos about PFAS contamination, Federal fossil fuel subsidies, and opposing the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline. He is passionate about environmental justice, racial equity, and public health, and aspires to shape policy to tackle climate change.
