Katie is studying mechanical engineering and global health with minors in sustainability and Spanish. As a Goldwater Scholar, her research focuses on UV and membrane water treatment technologies, while her honors thesis is developing a smart agricultural device to help small farmers reduce their water usage. She serves as the president for Arizona State University’s Engineers Without Borders chapter and has led the design of rainwater harvesting systems with Naki, Kenya. As a Global 4-H Youth Committee representative, she hopes to encourage more youth to take environmental action. She is passionate about ensuring communities access to clean water and proper sanitation and hopes to dedicate her career to this mission.
