Amelia is a Colombian-American journalist, climate activist, and artist. Southern-Uribe is a sophomore studying broadcast journalism and political science at the University of Arkansas. They are the founder and president of Zero Hour Arkansas, a climate justice organization that diverted 238,128 pounds of waste and advocates for environmental justice. Southern-Uribe also serves as the director of the Southeastern chapters for This is Zero Hour. After graduation, Amelia wants to pursue a master’s in environmental management to increase climate communication, and intersectional solutions and increase access to education through journalism. They are passionate about climate justice and want to bring that passion into strategic communication.
