Meggan is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and a Cobell Scholar majoring in nursing and health sciences at Alaska Pacific University. She is the vice-president of the APU Student Nurses' Association. She works as a birth assistant with a local midwifery practice, as well as in the anatomy and physiology lab, mentoring aspiring nursing students. Her internship at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium included research on autoimmune hepatitis and overlap syndrome among Alaska Native people. She intends to continue her education to become an advanced practice registered nurse serving families both locally and in rural Alaska.
